Was invited By Jitka from Shipwreck Explorers on their personal dives week with Dave a meg instructor. I dove 6 different wrecks in four days. The deepest was the Florida. one of the most supprising was the Kyle Spangler. I hit between 165 feet 185 feet. Deep. I learned about re breathers. I also learned about crewing. I also learned how to do a Jerrsy tag line. The safest way to descend on a wreck in the great lakes. I came back a wreck diver. All these wrecks are WORLD CLASS.

Ray Kaszuba

My closest childhood friend. His poor Aunt and Uncle. To us, Ma and Dad They
raised him since he was six. What an empty feeling. What difference did that Suzuki make now? If only I could have been his friend, maybe we could have started a business. At 20 Ray was gone. A year older, a grade behind because of his move from Communist Poland.

I remember the day in third grade when Ray became a US citizen and he changed his name from Roman to Ray. He was all smiles, you could just feel his glow. Roman Numeral Bread used to advertise a lot, and kids would call him Roman Numeral. It was about the only thing that would piss Ray off. He was stronger than all of us, but he rarely flexed his muscles.

I remember his Ma and Dad at the wake. His birth ma was there, first time I ever had seen her in 14 years. She gave Ray up at six years old to her brother so Ray could live in USA. I remember Ray sending  grass cutting money overseas. I guess a little helped a lot in Poland.

Rays parents, really his aunt and uncle, had me sit up in front at the wake as Ray's dearest, closest, longest friend. How hypocritical. I quit being Ray's friend a year before. And when my dad needed help he went across the alley and asked Ray.

A year latter my dad, stupid jerk, Lugan asshole got killed in a head-on.

A few weeks before Ray Kasuba died, he borrowed my 250 Suzuki. The bike was wrecked a bit already from me having dropped it. So the bike had damage.

Couple weeks before his death, Ray rear ended a bus and bent the forks. He caused more damage but not all the damage. He just dented the scratch. The saying  was, "You wreck it you fix it." He was still friend enough to use my things. But we argued over the damage.

I was a prick to Ray, not hanging with the our crowd of childhood friends much anymore. Partying and girls was my goal.  I was bored with Neil Diamond. So I insisted Ray fix everything on the bike, because of my childish I'm rubber you're glue insurance policy.

I wasn't concerned that Ray broke his arm and nearly killed himself on the Suzuki,  putting it up the ass end of the bus. "Fix it Ray; you're a jerk, you stupid Pole-lock; your'e an asshole. You said; you promised. How dumb can you be you Pole-lock, Roman numeral ass? You dropped out of college you failed all Lewis U classes. I guess no airplane mechanic for you ha ha." (Misery deserves company. I was supposed to go to Lewis U but I changed my mind. At least Ray's failing made me feel like my cop-out was the right choice.)

A week or so latter big shot Mike(me) seventeen year old,  sneaking into the parents basement to avoid my dad and grab some sheets or blankets or whatever I felt 1 had a rite to. For I no longer lived with my parents home

My sister Marie was home from Urbana, and she asked me "Did you hear about Ray?" I responded, "What did the jerk do now?"

Marie said Ray drowned.   How I wish I could have been a better friend!!!!

Speaking with Nancy

Speaking with Nancy                                      I had a dream about my sister Nancy last night.  I don’t remember too many dreams. This one was more than a dream I really believe I was speaking  communicating my feelings in the most sincere way. I was speaking with hear as if she was alive and knowing I wouldn’t see her on earth again. She just reaffirmed that she knew my true feelings about her, and then we said goodbye.
I am sad that I probably won’t speak to her again, but I am happy I had the opportunity to speak with her again. Even in my dreams.

Third Grade Arithmetic that BACKFIRED FORWARD

Third Grade Arithmetic that BACKFIRED FORWARD When you first start grade three you are just coming out of second grade. It seems like your still thought of as a first grader, and if you flunk you're a big first grader. By the time third grade is ending you want to be older, so if someone older ask what grade you are in you say "going into fourth". Third grade math is addition, subtraction and multiplication and division (long-hand). Homework in long hand division is time consuming. The end of third grade is late May, at least at St Richards and long hand division would interrupt going to Archer Park and playing baseball. If I did not do my homework I couldn't go out and play. Ma was making sure I did my homework. Guess to many missed asignments. Her not knowing my assignment except for chronologically in the math book, I devised a way to get out of doing long hand division. It was to pick the wrong assignment. I could pick homework from ahead in the math book deemed easier Walla!!! I found addition of fractions in the back. It looks simple enough! I added top and bottom and I was done with ten question in five minutes. I would show my ma and be out playing baseball as soon as she approved it. Ma checked my math home work and I found out it was all wrong. Verne sat me down and taught me fractions until exhausted. It took three days. Two of the days were weekends. By Mondays I could do fractions in my sleep. I could even divide fractions. I turned in the assignment and proved I really did the work to my teacher Mrs. Lewis (Golly Green Giant) and it was counted for my assignment. I can still feel how my head hurt learning fractions. I always emulated to my father and this was the first time my mother really spent time with me, (other than womb) that I remember. Being slick and trying to pass one off on Verne didn't work. The same reason I needed my home work checked was the same reason toward the second half of fourth grade I was not called on when I raised my hand when the teacher Ms. Farrell asked if anyone knew how to do fractions. I was considered a very good student, plus Ms. Farrell and I were not on the best terms. Plus she was nuts!!! NUTSS!!! With all the best and brightest students getting a crack at the fractions on the chalk board and failing, me holding my arm up with my other arm I was finally given a shot. I worked the chalk board as if I were a tenured teacher. I did addition then multiplication and division of fractions, and to Ms. Farrell's astonishment I got them all correct. I found out that we did not need to know fractions until fifth grade. The end of third grade seemed a lifetime away, for I was on my way into fifth. It made me happy to know my mother. It made me proud I was first in my class in fractions, at least until middle of sixth grade. Although considered a slow learner I could learn and learn well. in sixth grade I won the science fair and that included competing against eighth graders. I attribute this to realizeing it takes me more time to prepare and learn for me than most, but when I learn something I know it inside and out. THANKS MA !!!
